Konami will announce a new game related to a classic series during next month’s Tokyo Game Show, it is said.

The publisher released its full Tokyo Game Show line-up on Wednesday, with most of the games listed being already known titles.

However, in their stage event schedule, it lists a 45-minute show taking place on September 16th that is titled “Konami new version announced.”

“Voice actor Yuji Kaji will be invited as a guest to represent fans of a series that is loved around the world, in the announcement stage for a new Konami title,” it read.

Kaji has lent his voice to a number of games, including a number of Final Fantasy titles.

However, since he is apparently only “representing the fans” of the new game in question, this does not necessarily mean that the new title will be related to everything he had before.

A publishing source told VGC that the reveal is likely related to a smaller project, rather than Konami’s larger planned revivals of Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid (the former of which is understood to be the most advanced in development), which VGC. first report on last year.

As VGC reported earlier this year, a remake of Silent Hill 2 is understood to be in active development at developer Medium Bloober Team. Sources suggest that the game will be a timed exclusive for PlayStation consoles (alongside PC).

Another episodic series of Silent Hill “short stories” is said to be in development at a studio under Annapurna Interactive, the acclaimed publisher behind games like Sayonara Wild Hearts, Outer Wilds and Telling Lies.

Konami also has plans for remasters of classic Metal Gear Solid games, we’re told. Sources also indicated last year that Chinese studio Virtuos was working on a new version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Although it is possible that Konami could tease all these projects at TGS, we understand that it is more likely that they will be shown later this year through a more global event such as a PlayStation State of Play or The Game Awards in December.
