Hideo Kojima has admitted that he recently grabbed a project that he considers “old -fashioned” because of its similarities to the Amazon series The Boys.
Speaking on Twitter, the thoughts behind Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding said that he “put it because the concept was similar (different setting and tricks),” to the Amazon show.
“A friend (man / woman) does something with a special detective squad to face off against a legendary hero behind the scenes,” Kojima said. “I think of Mads [Mikkelsen] as a leader.”

It’s unclear whether Kojima means games or projects in a different medium, especially when Kojima Productions strives to expand into multi-media.
The Boys first aired on Amazon in 2019, which means that this project could potentially be Kojima’s next project after Death Stranding.
However, as Kojima thinks, this is not the case. He is currently working on a Cloud-based game that was recently confirmed with the Xbox.

It’s possible that the game was Overdose, a horror game starring Death Stranding’s Margaret Qualley, which appeared earlier this year.
Trusted industry insider Tom Henderson claimed to have received early footage of the game.
After this report, Henderson claimed that Kojima Productions had reached out to request its removal. If true, it would probably give weight to the claims made in the story.
Kojima has teased the next project since the release of Death Stranding in November 2019. In that month, he suggested that he watch horror movies to prepare for future projects, and in April 2020 he said he wanted to make a “revolutionary” horror game one day.
While Kojima can speak and write in English, he cannot say it sufficiently for clear communication. His 5 favorite movies include Blade Runner, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, Heaven and Hell, Taxi Driver and 2001: A Space Oddesey. Heaven and Hell is the only movie on its list that is Japanese.
