Morocco dreamed of reaching the semi-finals before reaching the ultimate goal, becoming the first African country to go so far. Meanwhile, Croatia has silenced doubters who were skeptical that the team could repeat their 2018 success and have shown they can be a contender for many years to come. Both teams approached Saturday’s match as if it were a World Cup final.

Morocco were unable to clear the ball from a safe distance, and Croatia took advantage when striker Mislav Oršić scored from the right side of the goal. Croatia took a 2-1 lead, which was the score at the break.

Croatia striker Andrej Kramarić left the match with an injury early in the second half and was overcome with emotion.
Morocco had the perfect chance to draw as striker Youssef En-Nesyri fired a close-up shot, but goalkeeper Dominik Livaković deflected the shot and Croatia later took the ball from the net.
En-Nesyri took the final header just north of the net in what was expected to be the last strike of the game.
