Like most horror franchises, the Paranormal Activity series has turned into complete garbage, but the first movie was terrifying. A clever, low-budget indie film based on the idea of using the “found footage” of a camcorder left running around the house, Paranormal Activity is horror right up to its terrifying end.

This upcoming comic features incredible visceral pops of gore. Suddenly follows Mara (Katherine Langford) and Dylan (Charlie Plummer), two young people who fall in love in a terrible tragedy: Their classmates start to explode, one by one, at every strange moment astonishment. Unspeakable events force young people to put worries about the future to one side and focus on living in and enjoying the moment. The main idea is handled very carefully and the romance is not very sweet. A clever, interesting and often funny journey.
Released in 1987, Hellraiser still holds all of its power today. It’s really scary and, at times, completely terrifying. Pinhead is about to rest when the terrifying villains arrive. This used to keep me up at night when I was young and just thinking about it made me cry.
World War Z explored the effects of a global pandemic in 2013, but in this case the difficulty turned the victims into mindless zombies. Starring Brad Pitt as former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane, the film follows the spread of a possible cure for this zombie plague.
Children of the Corn (1984)
It wouldn’t be right to have a series of horror movies without something inspired by the works of Stephen King. Children of the Corn is a thriller that features a group of mischievous children who carry out the evil and murderous acts of a supernatural entity that has power over a small village. A classic for a reason.
Rosemary’s Baby is as close to normal as horror gets. Released in 1968, it follows Rosemary Woodhouse, played by Mia Farrow, as she begins to suspect that her neighbors are part of a satanic group, manipulating her unborn child for rituals. This may interest you : Is there a shortage of food? What the Utah authorities tell you to do. It’s heavy, intense and benefits from an incredible performance from Farrow.

Sometimes a funny horror is just what you need – not too scary, but not too cool. Sharknado is the perfect blend of complete comedy, made with a smidge of gore. In a world where you can sometimes feel like a small fish in a big pond, why not spend some time looking at a bunch of sharks?
If you’re looking for a fun action movie, look no further. Train To Busan is a horror movie about a family trapped on a train in a terrible zombie outbreak. Not only does he capture the intensity, he’s an amazing person for a movie about zombies. Well worth the watch!
One of the best horror movies on this list, Carrie is a cult classic for a reason. Starring Sissy Spacek, the film focuses on the trials and tribulations of telekinetic teenager Carrie as she faces a gang of violent teenagers, heartbreak and family conflict. Since then it has spawned remakes and musicals, but nothing has touched the original.
If you like your horror movies mixed with a modern dancer (and who wouldn’t!) then Suspiria is definitely for you. It tells the story of a supernatural dance academy run by a group of witches, and contains themes such as motherhood, guilt and abuse. An homage to the original 1977 film, Suspiria stars Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton.
If psychological horror (and just a touch of gore) is more up your alley, consider checking out Neon Demon. Starring Elle Fanning, Jena Malone and Keanu Reeves, the film follows a model (Fanning) as she tries to make her way in this cut-throat industry.
