Retro compilation specialist Digital Eclipse has announced that he is working on a new title for Atari, featuring over 90 games in six classic formats.
Atari 50th: The Anniversary Celebration will celebrate Atari’s history with a range of games previously released for the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 8-bit home computer, Lynx and Jaguar.
First of all, the compilation will be the first time that Lynx and Jaguar games will be made available for play on modern consoles.

According to Digital Eclipse, the game will consist of five interactive timelines that contain information on “games that started the modern industry … through interviews, archival photos, special source material and behind the scenes content”. Once players discover games on the timeline, they will be able to exit the timeline and play them, then go back to where they left off to continue the story.
“Behind every game there are stories about Atari, what was going on in the company, what influenced the development of the games and the hardware they ran on, all told by the people who were there,” the press release reads.
“This is a rare opportunity to look behind the scenes of video game history.”
In addition to the retro games included in the compilation, Digital Eclipse has also created the “Reimagined” series – six games that “visit, connect and reinvent the Atari classics” – which will also be included in the compilation.
