Conference realignment has been the talk of the football world since last summer when the Southeastern Conference announced that the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners would join their ranks starting in 2025.

The Big Ten responded this summer on Thursday, June 30, when it voted to have the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins join their conference in 2024.

Both conferences will expand to 16 members in a few years.

With the Big Ten Conference and the Southeastern Conference soon to be the first two conferences, college athletics fans are starting to wonder what’s in store for the remaining schools in the other conferences. The only thing that is certain is that every conference is bound to shake up, and the colleges with the most exposure will be the first to be selected.

In the spirit of conference realignment, Pat Forde released the Power 5 Rankings for Sports Illustrated on Thursday, ranking 69 Power 5 schools to determine the most desirable if each conference begins.

The factors that determine a school’s ranking are football rankings, academic rankings, all-sports rankings, football attendance, and broadcast viewership.

Among all Power 5 schools, the Ole Miss Rebels come in at No. 28 in the new Desire Rankings. The Rebels are ranked No. 35 in football, tied for No. 55 in academics, No. 19 in all games, number 31 in attendance, and number 23 in viewership.

Ole Miss ranks first among SEC schools such as the Arkansas Razorbacks (34), Kentucky Wildcats (39), South Carolina Gamecocks (42), Mississippi State Bulldogs (43), Missouri Tigers (53), and Vanderbilt Commodores (63).
