Today it was announced that Oscar-nominated actress Diane Lane has signed on to play the second star of the upcoming Netflix series A Man in Full. Lane will star alongside Jeff Daniels in the 1998 series of the eponymous Tom Wolfe novel by producers David E. Kelley and Regina King.
A Man in Full follows Daniels as Charlie Crocker, a real estate mogul and member of Atlanta high society who sees his business empire and social status in jeopardy when faced with bankruptcy. Lane will play Martha Crocker, the ex-wife of Daniel’s Charlie Crocker. As Charlie’s business begins to collapse, Martha struggles to maintain her own status in the city and her efforts pose a threat to Charlie as three decades of her marriage’s secrets come to light.
Lane is an Academy Award-nominated actress, receiving her nomination for her performance in the 2002 film Unfaithful. She is best known for her roles in films such as Under the Tuscan Sun, The Outsiders and for playing Martha Kent. in the Henry Cavil Superman films. Most recently, Lane starred in the FX Y series: The Last Man and the final season of Netflix’s House of Cards. It can then be seen in the Apple TV + Extrapolations series alongside Meryl Streep, Tobey Maguire and Forest Whitaker.
The six episodes of A Man in Full have been written by Kelley, who will also act as executive producer and showrunner of the series. Kelley has had a long and expansive career in the world of television. He has recently created hit series such as Nine Perfect Strangers, Big Little Lies and The Undoing. He also created classic series such as Doogie Howser, M.D., Chicago Hope and Ally McBeal.
King will direct three episodes and act as executive producer of the series through his production company Royal Ties. King is an Academy Award-winning actress best known for her work in films such as Ray, If Beale Street Could Talk and The Harder They Fall, as well as series such as The Leftovers and Watchmen. Recently, he has also been receiving praise in the world of management. He has directed episodes of hit series such as This is Us, Shameless and Insecure before debuting as a feature film director on the acclaimed One Night in Miami …. With this film, King directed Leslie Odom Jr. to an Oscar nomination.
