5 Soldiers Inc. Brought The Predator Back To Real-Time Strategy
Published in 2013, Soldiers Inc. is a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy (MMORTS) game available on Facebook through a web browser. Mortal Kombat has slowly started adding guest characters over the last few entries, so it’s no surprise that the legendary hunter and all-rounder Predator has been added in Mortal Kombat 10. All the main weapons are there, with knuckle blades, cloaking, thermal vision all rolled into one. combos and brutality of the character, while the Smart Disc and Plasmacaster take center stage during the game’s famous fatal cases.
There are a few other movie references too – many of the moves are named after iconic quotes from the series, while the victory animation sees the Predator perform his famous spine-splitting technique with the skull then placed in the trophy room. This is a shame, because despite not being a Predator game, Yautja’s design, fire team characters, and jungle setting actually make this one of the more faithful adaptations of the first film.
2 The Predator Obviously Dropped Into Fortnite: Battle Royale
With Fortnite slowly absorbing every single pop culture character into a Ready Player One-esque metaverse, it was only a matter of time before Yautya joined the hunt. The Predator appeared as a playable skin in Battle Pass Chapter 2 Season 5, but was also present as an enemy NPC lurking around the Stealthy Stronghold. The Predator proved to be one of the most difficult NPCs in the world, as his stealth, wrist blades, and speed made killing (and even finding) Yautja warriors quite the task.
The skin itself wasn’t all that powerful, but it had a few nice touches – including Heat Vision cosmetics, a laser that appears when aiming, and a built-in emote that removes the helmet. The Xenomorphs were added later that season, allowing the two alien creatures to once again face off—or mop up together, if you prefer.
1 Broforce Lovingly Parodied The Predator
Similar to the original Predator movie in many ways, the side-scrolling, gun-toting platformer Broforce feels like an homage and light parody of the high-end action movies of the 80s, complete with outlandish set pieces, excessive flag-waving, and endless explosions. As such, several Broforce characters are parodies of the era’s action heroes with the word ‘bro’ added to their names, including Rambro and the Brominator.
The Predator, of course, appears as Brodator – complete with larger-than-life muscles – armed with a knuckle blade melee attack, as well as a themed special that allows Brodator to take cover and fire a plasma cannon. It’s a perfect match for many iconic Predator quotes.
