Following a bunch of advice from Axios readers, my wife and I recently told our 5 and a half year old twins that we had video games at home, and that we could play them.

Why it matters: It was a big step. There are no clear guidelines for when to introduce your child to games, nor to someone like me who has reported on games for two decades.

My thought process: I want to introduce games to my kids for all the reasons they want to share something they like.

My preparation: We chose a weekend date for the children’s first play session.

What happened: On Sunday we started with Mario 3D World, like me Mario, my kids like Luigi and Peach, and then we tested Kart.
