WESTFIELD – Ryan Geeleher is allowed to build four self-storage buildings on North Road, after the Conservation Commission accepted his proposal to conduct annual water quality tests on the Brook Army.
The Commission has previously requested that Geeleher Enterprises drill test wells to ensure that there is no pollution entering the stream or groundwater from the business. Geeleher engineer Ryan Nelson of R. Levesque Associates told the board Tuesday that a shallow slab – about 6 feet below the surface in most places – makes impractical wells.
Rob Levesque, from the same engineering firm, said he consulted with an expert in environmental monitoring, who suggested naming two test sites in the Brook itself. Prior to construction, post-construction, and then annually in operation of the storage facility, Geeleher will test the water quality of Army Brook as it crosses the North Road, enters its property, and at the point downstream of the where any run – off from the property would enter.
