Nate Diaz dominated Tony Ferguson in a highly entertaining fight in the main event of UFC 279 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. Diaz’s jabs were on point throughout the fight, and while Ferguson was successful with his kicks throughout the fight, it wasn’t enough to stop Diaz, who eventually submitted Ferguson in the fourth.
In the co-main event, Khamzat Chimaev demolished Kevin Holland for a first-round submission victory to remain undefeated. Chimaev again did not absorb significant blows and quickly dispatched Holland, who had a large reach advantage.
Earlier in the main card, Irene Aldana finished Macy Chiasson in the 3rd round with an impressive and rarely seen up-kick to the liver, and in the preliminaries, heavyweights Jake Collier and Chris Barnett put on their old performances, with Barnett recovering from an early Collier attack for victory by stoppage in the second round. Barnett then performed a frontflip to remember, prompting a flurry of comments on social media.
Here’s what fellow fighters and other sports superstars had to say:

Chimaev made quick work of Holland in the fight that was announced on Friday night. He took Holland down with ease and chased the submission from there.
Lots of unnecessary drama this week, but Khamzat Chimaev is a BAD MAN! Such a special #UFC279 talent
I really didn’t think it would be so easy for Chimaev. Horrible look from Holland.
Chimaev doesn’t deserve a title fight if they try to push that story 😒 #ufc279
I always say wrestling is won in fights but damn i wanted to see khamzat more than wrestling but why does he need it?
Aldana (14-6, 6-4 UFC) was arguably bad when she hit Chiasson (9-3, 7-2 UFC) right in the liver, forcing the official to wave the fight off.
