The deal for a joint sports venture between Warner Bros Discovery and BT Sport in Great Britain and Ireland was a success.
The conglomerates announced they would merge a few months ago when the deal with Dazn to acquire BT Sports collapsed and the assets of BT Sport and its subsidiary Eurosport UK were transferred to the combined 50/50 JV.
With the commencement of work on the development of a new sports offering for the UK & amp; Ireland, BT Sport and Eurosport UK will be separated for some time before a new sports brand is launched, linking Warner Bros. Discovery and BT by David Zaslava.
The new powerhouse will bring together the power of two sports giants such as the Olympic Games, Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Premier League, Premiership Rugby, MotoGP, UFC, Boxing and WWE.
Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer Division, will chair the as yet unnamed JV.

Andrew Georgiou, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe said today that “this is the beginning of our journey to build a new sports facility for fans in the UK and Ireland.”
Georgiou will sit on the board chaired by Allera.
