Many doubt whether Barrett can be a 1A base star or even 1B. But with Mitchell at the top of the food chain and Brunson as a potential second All-Star, Barrett has the potential to position as a true needle-moving third wheel. If he goes to Utah with most, or all, of New York’s future equity drafts – plus Immanuel Quickley and/or Obi Toppin – in the Mitchell deal, the Knicks train will run out of gas a few points before the match. with no means to refill.
