But he still believed that some people doubted his ability when he joined the Broncs team. & # xD; & # xD; “I really felt like I was taken over as a brand, like, ‘Hey, I’m the best player from the Valley, let’s put him on the list and keep the people happy. ‘ But it wasn’t the way it was. I knew I could play, “Valdez said. & # xD; & # xD; For three years, Valdez stepped off the bench. He scored 22 points and assisted 18 in his youth, with an average of six minutes per game. As a sophomore, he scored 141 points and recorded 35 assistants and 42 rebounds. & # XD; & # xD; It was not easy from a high school star, to playing every minute of every game, to being a participant. He had planned to move out after his second season, but head coach Kevin Wall convinced him to stay out after his season ended. He got points 17th and 19th against New Orleans and Lamar, respectively, scored 22 points in the career against Southwestern Louisiana – all in second place – in the final. & # xD; & # xD; “It was hard at first. I probably had to work 10 times harder than anyone,” Valdez said. “I always took the role God gave me. Every year I got better, so it was even harder for Coach Wall not to play with me. It was satisfying for me. ” & # xD; & # xD; The 1989-90 season, Valdez’s teenage year, was the first Broncs team to play at Texas Pan American University and one of their best.
