Bobby Shmurda has distanced himself from drill music by stating that he will never make songs in that rap genre.
The Brooklyn rapper took to Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 7) to claim he won’t be doing any exercise because he doesn’t want to follow the crowd. Shmurda shared a video from YouTuber Bashworld praising his song “Hoochie Daddy” and telling people not to categorize his sound.
“Don’t ever try to categorize or pigeonhole me, it will give you a headache,” he wrote. “I’m doing what Yall haters can’t #Nahimsaying. I don’t drill. I’ll never be a minion Rrrrr and they can’t really make me unique.”
During a recent interview with AllHipHop, Bobby Shmurda was adamant that his music isn’t drill and proclaimed Chief Keef a pioneer.

He continued: “My shit is dance music. All my shit becomes dance. All you want to do is go dance, I think drill music is more like… [dark music] it is. My shit is more music to dance to, but it’s real warrior music. It’s warrior music, champion music, alpha music. It’s Shmurda music. I say that’s all Shmurda. It is domination.”
