The Special Olympics United Cup is set to take place in Southeast Michigan on Sunday, July 31, through Saturday, August 6, 2022, and Detroit will welcome over 300 athletes from more than 20 countries to compete in ball -foot (soccer), the most popular in the world. sports. Michigan Vaccination Partners (MVP), in collaboration with the Wayne Health Mobile Unit, will be on hand to offer free vaccinations and health screening services.

With a vision to create healthy communities for all, MVP is comprised of four statewide organizations—the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute (MI-DDI) at Wayne State University, the Autism Alliance of Michigan, the Michigan Brain Injury Association and Michigan Disability Rights—who collaborate to create an accessible and welcoming vaccination and health clinic experience for all Michiganders, collaborating with trusted community organizations and using the latest scientific knowledge to guide initiatives. MVP aims to improve equity and access to vaccines and other healthcare services for people disproportionately affected by COVID-19.

“By attending this event, MVP’s vision will be shared with thousands of people – with and without disabilities – from all over the world,” said Dr. Sharon Milberger, Director of MI-DDI. “It’s an exciting and important opportunity to highlight the need to expand access to vaccines and other healthcare services for those most affected by COVID-19.”
