10:10 Games is comprised of veteran LEGO game developers and will help create a video game with collectibles company Funko.
Funko has long been around all kinds of pop culture franchises, including video game franchises. Its pop vinyl figures feature characters from many of our favorite games, but it looks like Funko is ready to create its own game and team up with new studio 10:10 Games to make it happen. The two have announced that they will be collaborating on a new video game that will be licensed by Funko.
Funko and 10:10 Games announced their Funko video game collaboration via a video on the official 10:10 Games Twitter account on July 25, 2022. According to the tweet, 10:10 Games is teaming up with Funko to deliver a new “AAA action platformer” video game. The video introduces Freddy Funk (likely to be the mascot for the collaboration between the two) and announces that the team is working on “AAA video games”. While the tweet itself says this will be 10:10 Games’ first project, it’s worth noting that the plural of “video games” in the teaser could mean the two groups will be working on multiple projects.
10:10 The games should be an interesting gathering with Funk. The new studio is led by Traveller’s Tales co-founder Jon Burton, who helped launch the company’s long run of LEGO games. Burton’s final contribution to what would become TT Games was at LEGO Worlds 2017. Likewise, several other veteran developers joined Burton at 10:10, making the studio seem like a solid new take on games based on collectible toy licenses. .
Funko itself has also dipped its toes into the games a lot, as we’ve seen multiple times in our interviews. However, the company has so far focused on social games.
With a new video game in the works between the new studio and Funk, it will be interesting to see what the two groups come up with. While we wait for the full reveal, stay tuned for updates on the upcoming Funko game at 10:10, right here on Shacknews.
