Because of all its influence on movies, television, and books, the American sleeping camp has been very small in the digital world of video games. See the article : What Apple TV’s MLS deal says about sports and streaming.
The original Psychonauts set up their government training facility at Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp, and on Friday, May 13, 2017, the Games returned us to the iconic Crystal Lake Camp. Supermassive Games has also released its latest version, Quarry, which pits nine camp advisors against supernatural forces. But these games are anomalies of the grand scheme of things. Films like Meatballs, Heavyweights, Addams Family Values, and Wet Hot American Summer established summer camps as a force for pop culture, followed by TV shows like Camp Lazlo and American Horror Story: 1984. Video games have not yet been treated as the dominant genre of summer camps.

But that won’t stop us from dreaming. Nor, obviously, has it stopped developers from doing the same. This may interest you : Recently released patented tracks in NFT of Nike branded video games. We contacted six studios to ask what the ideal camp game would look like, regardless of budget or timeline, and their responses were as different as the games they actually made.
Now, our conscience is clear, and it is the responsibility of publishers to give these guaranteed classics the time of day.
What makes a camp special?
Being British, the idea for an American-style summer camp comes mostly from movies, and what’s on our minds is Camp Chippewa at Addams Family Values! We also really liked the atmosphere of the firewatch and the way we play “out in nature with a map”, and we’d love to play an outdoor game in a similar style, but with a bit more weight to the puzzle / detective elements. And we also love the atmosphere, humor and mystery of the Gravity Falls TV show.
So to sum it up: our ideal summer camp game would combine the energy and detective mystery of Gravity Falls with the visual and gameplay elements of Firewatch and would have a dark but healthy narrative inspired by the Addams Family! - It’s very Jackbox, but I really love summer graffiti. Strict on the walls of the cabin, under the beds, carved in the trees or raw latrine. I represent a game where you are all 10 year olds and together you draw and write graffiti about your fictional summer. Five years later, you’re 15 years old. The drawing wall has become obsolete, too. Some lines are still clear, while others have faded or disappeared. You draw and write about your teenage summer again, reusing the rest of the lines. Then you’re a 20-year-old summer camp counselor. Again, you draw on a partially blurred wall. Maybe over the years “Brad loves hot dogs” becomes “Brad loves Jenny” and then “Stacy loves Jenny”. Or you draw dumb things and over time the nose of one drawing then becomes the ass of another drawing.
