Buffalo resident’s father and 85-year-old grandmother have been stranded in a car stuck in snow since Friday
Lia Belles’ 85-year-old grandmother and her father have been stuck on New York State Route 198 in Buffalo, New York since Friday afternoon.

“There’s nothing more I want right now besides safety,” Belles told CNN, adding that he tried to get to them with a sled, but the conditions made it impossible.

“It’s very nervous and difficult,” he said, “They’re definitely tired, but we’re seeing a little bit of hope right now.”
Tennessee power demand hit an all-time high amid severe winter weather that forced rolling outages
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) ended routine outages Saturday evening after conditions on the power system improved, according to a statement from the power company.
Two all-time records were set this winter, according to TVA.
“We know that demanding energy conservation is challenging, especially during the holidays, and we appreciate everyone’s support and patience,” TVA Chief Operating Officer Don Moul said in a statement. “TVA and local power companies continue to do everything they can to minimize outages, ensuring the overall power grid remains reliable.”

“A couple of hundred” people are still trapped in their vehicles in Erie County as a dangerous New York blizzard rattles the state, officials told CNN on Saturday.
First responders are scrambling to rescue Erie County residents who were trapped in their cars last night and this morning as strong winds and sweltering conditions batter the county, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz told CNN’s Sarah Sidner on Saturday.
Poloncarz said Saturday that two-thirds of emergency response vehicles were stuck in the worst-hit areas of the county, and he advised residents to call 911 unless their lives are in danger.
“It’s still a very serious situation,” Poloncarz said Saturday afternoon.
The county faces challenges getting residents to drive on the roads despite the ban, Poloncarz told CNN.
First responders in Erie County were able to get people into warming centers, Poloncarz said, and the Buffalo airport said on Twitter that transit police, Buffalo airport fire and airport crews rescued stranded motorists and sheltered about 60 people.
At least two people have died in Erie County after emergency workers were unable to reach homes during medical emergencies, CNN reported earlier.
