A fan favorite from Oklahoma is retiring from football.
Sooners Redshirt senior running back Jaden Knowles announced on Twitter Saturday that he was “taking leave” of the sport, saying he was going to “listen to my body.”
“All good things must come to an end,” Knowles wrote on Twitter. “I have been very blessed over the past three years to have had the opportunity to play on one of the biggest stages in the world. A dream that started at the age of six when I put on shoulder pads and a helmet for the first time. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the game I love; but it’s time for me to listen to my body.
“Thank you to all the coaches who have given me the opportunity, to the staff who have helped with my recovery and to the fans who have supported me through good and bad. I am forever grateful for the experience and will continue to support the Sooner community through multiple service efforts.
“For my family, we made it! I am forever grateful for your generous support, words of encouragement, and the continued sacrifices you all made to make this dream come true. I did this for us! Blessed with a first class education, the sky is the limit now and I intend to go as far as I can! Thank you!

Knowles, also known as “Weatherman J,” did not appear in any games this season after suffering an undisclosed injury before the start of the season.
In 2021, however, he appeared in all 13 games, mostly on special teams, and scored two touchdowns in the Sooners’ win over Western Carolina.
Knowles came to Oklahoma as a transfer from the lower ranks after playing his first two collegiate seasons in Southwestern Oklahoma State in 2018 and 2019.
Best known for his endeavors in the field of meteorology, Knowles became a fan favorite despite his short playing time with Norman.
But now it looks like the Texas native will be focused on the next phase in his life as he closes the book of his playing career rather than returning to the Sooners for another season.
