(January 3, 2023) – The Morgan State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the addition of Dr. Sierra Hobbs as Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, where she will oversee a staff of eight. ; “We are very excited to have Dr. Sierra Hobbs join the Morgan State University Athletic Department Leadership Team. She will oversee a comprehensive health and wellness program to offer quality care to all of our student-athletes,” said Morgan State’s Deputy Director of Athletics and Seniors . Women’s Administrator, Erlease Wagner. “He will lead a department of eight athletic trainers and serve as the primary liaison for the MedStar Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation partnership. I look forward to seeing how Dr. Hobb’s leadership will not only transform the student-athlete experience, but also having a positive experience. impact on the growth and development of the Sports Medicine Team.” Dr. Hobbs comes to Morgan State after serving for the past six months as the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine at Clark Atlanta University. He also spent time as an Athletic Trainer with Source Fitness Management, where he provided sports medicine services at the high school level between February 2022 and July 2022. “Being named the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Morgan State University is beyond me,” said Dr. Hobbs. “It is such a privilege and honor to have this opportunity. I am excited to bring my years of clinical and administrative expertise to a growing Sports Medicine department and look forward to the continued advancement as we provide patient care of outstanding quality for all. our student-athletes.” #xD; Between May 2021 and February 2022, Dr. Hobbs spent nine months as the Director of Sports Medicine at Alabama State University. While at Alabama State, he oversaw all aspects of the department sports medicine at the university, the university’s relationship with Rehab Associates, and he was the main contact with the team doctors. Prior to Alabama State, Dr. Hobbs held a stint as an outreach athletic trainer for Virginia Commonwealth University Health Sports Medicine in Richmond (Va.), where he provided athletic training services to Virginia Union University. While at Virginia Union, Dr. Hobbs provided coverage for multiple sports including football, women’s basketball, track and field, cross country, and softball. Prior to working for VCU Health, he worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Fayetteville State University (2018-19), providing coverage for all 12 varsity sports with a primary focus on football and women’s basketball. Before going to Fayetteville State, Dr. Hobbs was the athletic trainer at San Marino (Calif.) High School, working primarily with football and girls’ varsity soccer. A native of Long Beach (Lo.), she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from North Carolina Central in 2010, graduating with honors, before earning her Master of Science in Kinesiology – with a concentration in Sports Medicine and Injury Studies from California. Long Beach State University in 2017, graduating with honors. In June 2022, Dr. Hobbs his Doctorate in Athletic Training with an emphasis in Leadership Education and Orthopedics from A.T. Still university.
