With the 2022 college football season on the floor, our panel of college football experts faced a number of tough decisions when we came together to select the 2022 CBS Sports/247Sports Preseason All- America. CBS Sports and 247Sports experts teamed up once again to honor the players they expect to shine over the next four months.
Alabama quarterback Will Anderson Jr. he leads the team with not only one of three Preseason All-America first team selections but also our Preseason Player of the Year. Anderson is joined by Texas running back Bijan Robinson and Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the first-team all-rounders.
Anderson, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, Iowa cornerback Riley Moss and Michigan linebacker Jake Moody as they recap first-team picks from the 2021 postseason team, while Kansas State’s Deuce Vaughn picked two nods as a first team all- target pick and a second team running back.
In total, 31 programs are represented across the two groups with 54 votes. Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State lead the way in the first three groups, while the Crimson Tide has the most votes with six. However, the Buckeyes received additional honors with Ryan Day being named Preseason Coach of the Year.
The SEC has seven teams represented among its 18 polls, while six Big Ten teams earned titles. Combined, these two conferences make up more than half of the Preseason All-America team (29 of 54).
In an effort to revamp our All-America team and make it more representative of the current game, CBS Sports/247Sports has changed the defensive line, adding a defensive back. In addition, the EDGE rushers who voted for the team were ranked according to the official team rankings.
