LOS ANGELES – at the end of July, the official opening ceremony of one of the iconic sports series took place.

Jeanie Buss, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, along with former Laker Champions, was present at the team’s training facility to promote Buss’s documentary “Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers,” which is scheduled to premiere Monday in Hulu.

This is a 10-episode series in which Buss has suppressed the belief that the project will not reveal any major revelations because it is an in-house production. “We don’t sugarcoat anything,” said Yahoo Sports.

Lakers CEO Rob Pelinka was on hand as a spectator. He stood to the side of the venue as Buss, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and film director Antoine Fuqua discussed the team’s history from starting in the NBA to joining the league elite with the championship after the championship in such a short space of time.

This was the prediction made by the late Dr. Jerry Buss when he bought the band in 1979.

“When he started out, he wanted to take on the Boston Celtics and all the wins they had won,” said Buss Yahoo Sports. “Now, with ring # 17, we are tied to the Celtics for winning [the championship]. That’s what he decided to do. And the work is certainly not over yet. We must continue this mission and we will.

And at this point Pelinka turns into an active participant to help guide the Lakers through many consecutive winning seasons.

LeBron James’ meeting

The quest to continue winning the championship starts with the Lakers’ best player: LeBron James. This may interest you : HarbourView acquires the music catalog of country music group Lady A.

James and his agent Rich Paul – the CEO of Klutch Sports – met Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham last week. The 37-year-old is approaching his 20th season in the league. It is to extend for two years, $ 97.1 million.

While the deal dialogue was discussed, most of the hourly meeting was about voicing concerns and hearing strategies and opinions to make sure the epic defeat from last season didn’t repeat itself, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

James, the sources say, realized the importance of consistent competitiveness and consistency, noting that last season’s team didn’t give themselves a shot for many nights. The goal of the future Hall of Famer is to compete every night to give yourself a chance to compete for the championship.

Ham agreed with James and reiterated that his main goal was to hold everyone accountable and foster an atmosphere of selflessness, the sources say. He expressed defensive tenacity needs to be raised throughout the squad and also warned players would have to play new roles and if he sensed reluctance he would not hesitate to remove them from the game, the sources said.

Moreover, the first-year coach said one of the wrinkles he will bring in and which he will stick to is that the attack will be led by Anthony Davis and James agreed with that, the sources say. The team has been encouraged by Davis’s off-season progress and believes he will be in optimal shape to avoid serious injuries and carry a heavier load.

The team also hopes to see a 3 percent increase in corner kicks from Russell Westbrook next season, the sources say.

When it comes to tinkering with the squad, Pelinka explained that patience will be key to any potential moves for the team, the sources say. In a concerted effort, all sides seem to align with a shared vision of watching a squad play before any drastic moves are made.

James is finalizing the site for the team’s annual mini-camp outside of the training camp, and San Diego is a likely landing site over Las Vegas, the sources say. He hopes to build a better relationship with his teammates before entering the 2022-23 season.

The meeting was considered productive and informative.

Pelinka made it clear his feelings that he wanted James to retire as a Laker and promised to provide him with every possible resource to compete for the organization championship every year, the sources said.

But the same Lakers legacy lives on.

“There are many more Lakers stories to write, and new players and new coaches will write them,” said Buss Yahoo Sports.
