After 10 weeks of regular season action and two exciting playoffs, the USFL Championship is finally here.
Birmingham Stallions and Philadelphia Stars will meet at the USFL Championship Sunday (7:30 p.m. ET on the FOX and FOX Sports app) from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.

“It was a heavy lift, a lot of work done by many adults against a tight schedule,” USFL VP of Football Operations Daryl Johnston said “Speak for yourself.” “Really, I’m really proud of everyone who has played a big role in this.… I’m really excited to have Birmingham and Philadelphia come into this game.”
It was a long journey to get to this point, but we learned a lot along the way.
And FOX Sports USFL reporter RJ Young used that accumulated knowledge to provide several keys to Sunday’s league game.

RJ Young reviewed Sunday’s USFL Championship match between the Stallions and the Stars.

The Stars were among the top return teams in the league, in second place with an average return (12.6) and an average return of kickoff (27.8). Stallions wideout / return Maurice Alexander was the main proponent, as he led the league with an average return of a kick (31.5) and was third with an average return of punt (12.6).
Stallions were also not too shy, ranking third on average return kicks (24.3). Victor Bolden came in seventh with an average return of kick (24.7) and a fifth with an average return of punt (8.4).
Taking RJ: “I always thought the kick game would be the deciding factor. We had kicks that could make it 61. We had kicks that missed chips shots. It seemed to affect everyone.

None of the initial rebounds started during the ownership of that role – Birmingham’s J’Mar Smith was behind Alex McGough, while Philadelphia’s Case Cookus was backed by Bryan Scott. But they both took advantage of the injury and both took advantage of the opportunity.
Smith played nine games, starting seven. He placed third in passing yards (1,573) and touchdowns (10), while throwing just six in the middle. His rating of 118.9 passes was the third-best QBs who had at least 200 pass attempts.
Cookus also played nine games and started seven. He placed fourth in transmission yards (1,334) and second in touchdowns (12), with only five interceptions. His pass rating of 130.6 was the best in the league for those who made at least 200 attempts.
