ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – The world-renowned Trap Music Museum and renowned Atlanta-based organization Zoe Safe House hope to give back to the community and raise awareness about the many faces financial struggles face.

Founded in 2015, Zoe Safe House is a multi-disciplinary organization specializing in community outreach and resource programs to raise mental health awareness and change.

“We collaborated with the Trap Music Museum on past projects. So we presented them with the idea of going back to school, and they really liked it,” said co-founder Edmonia Doe. “Inflation is one thing and many of the communities we serve are lower income and in dire need. Many families cannot afford school supplies and some students go to school with paper bags as backpacks.”

Trap Music Museum director CJ Williams has also seen many families struggling and hopes to help.

“I was a teacher for 12 years, so I know firsthand the struggles and lack of resources many communities experience,” Williams said. “We know that times are hard and many families cannot afford school supplies and it’s sad, but we want to help.”

There have been students in metro Atlanta who have had to go to school with plastic bags to carry their supplies because they couldn’t afford backpacks.

“The importance of providing students in our communities with the resources to succeed in the classroom is critical,” Williams said. “As The Trap Music Museum joins our community sponsors and organizations on the back-to-school journey, we look to the future. Our goal is to meet the needs of families while inspiring and empowering the next generation to feel supported and encouraged in their educational journeys to reach their highest levels.”

Doe says it was very important to partner with the Trap Music Museum because they have a strong platform and a strong desire to give back to the community.

“The shortage of school supplies is not only a problem for students and families in low-income neighborhoods, it’s also a problem for some teachers, because some school districts don’t provide enough budget. That means some teachers have to come out of their own pockets to help students in need,” Doe said.

School supplies will be picked up from Monday to Friday at 4:00 p.m. – at 10:00 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday at 12:00. – at 2:00 p.m. until July 29.

Back-to-school activities are underway around the Atlanta metropolitan area and as the next school year approaches.
