For four days over the first weekend in August, the hills of St.

Scheduled from Thursday, August 4, to Sunday, August 7, this year’s Hinterland Music Festival offers more than 30 performing acts. Passes for the event range from $99 for a single-day pass to $250 for a general admission four-day pass to $1,500 for a Saints Pass, which offers unlimited free drinks, catered meals, tent camping and more.

After the 2021 festival drew criticism from attendees who reported issues ranging from a lack of parking to a lack of food, it was announced that organizers plan to triple the amount of parking and the number of food vendors at to increase the place this year, among other changes.

HEADLINER: Wrapping up the night at 9:15 p.m. is Billy Strings, a Michigan-original bluegrass musician known for songs like “The Great Divide” and “Dust in a Baggie”. This stop in Iowa comes right between two sold-out shows in Indianapolis and Minneapolis, respectively, on his current tour.

6:15 pm – The Texas Gentlemen is a rock/pop band with a sound derived from hits from the 60’s and 70’s that released songs like “Habbie Doobie” and “Bondurant Women”. The group’s latest album, titled “Floor It!” was released in 2020.

19:30 – Sierra Ferrell hails from Tennessee and West Virginia, is a country artist who released songs like “Jeremiah” and “In Dreams” as part of her 2021 album “Long Time Coming”. Her single, “Hey Me, Hey Mama,” was released earlier this year.

TBD – Stand-up comedian Joe Pera, famous for his adult swimming show “Joe Pera Talks With You”, will perform on the Campfire Stage on Thursday. A time for Pera’s performance has not yet been confirmed.

Hinterland lineup Friday, Aug. 5

HEADLINER: British band Glass Animals will take the stage as the headliner for the night at 9:45 p.m. Although the band has been around since 2010, the last few years have marked an increase in notoriety for the group.

The band is famous for songs like “Heat Waves” and “Goey”, which previously appeared on the band’s 2020 album “Dreamland”. “Heat Waves” also earned the group a Grammy nomination earlier this year.

14:30 Uhr – Yoke Lore is the stage name for the indie performer Adrian Galvin, who used to perform as a drummer in the pop band “Walk the Moon”, known for the 2014 song “Shut Up and Dance”. As Yoke Lore, Galvin released songs like “Beige” and “Goodpain.”

3:30 p.m. – Petey is a rock/hip-hop artist also known for his comedy. Some of his notable releases include “Lean Into Life” and “Don’t Tell the Boys.” He released his single “Big Bad!” earlier this year.

4:30 p.m. – Electronic-indie performer Goth Babe – known for songs like “Weekend Friend” and “Sometimes” – is another entry in the Friday lineup at Hinterland.

5:30 pm – Now an established indie performer, some may be familiar with Briston Maroney from season 13 of “American Idol”. Some of Maroney’s notable songs include “Freakin’ Out On the Interstate” and “Small Talk.” Maroney released the deluxe edition of his album “Sunflower” earlier this year.

18:45 Uhr – An alt-pop band from Utah, the Aces is a four-person girl band. The group’s latest album is “Under My Influence,” which was released in 2020 and the group’s single, “Girls Make Me Wanna Die,” was released earlier this year.

8 p.m. – A late addition to the Hinterland lineup for this year — replacing Rainbow Kitten Surprise — Turnstile is an indie/alt band with hardcore influences. Songs like “Mystery” and “Blackout” were standouts on the band’s 2021 album, “Glow On.”

Hinterland lineup Saturday, Aug. 6

HEADLINER: The main attraction for Saturday night, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, plays at 9:30 p.m. led by Rateliff, who grew up in Missouri and is now based out of Colorado. Rateliff is also a solo folk artist who has released songs like “And It’s Still Alright” and “Redemption.”

The soul rock group, which formed in 2015, has produced songs like “S.O.B.” and “You worry me.” The band’s last album, “The Future” was released in 2021.

11:30 am – Miko Marks is a country singer born in Flint, Michigan, whose latest album, “Our Country” was released last year, more than a decade after her previous album.

12:30 p.m. – Country music singer-songwriter Jesse Daniel released his self-titled debut album in 2018 and, in 2021, released his latest album “Beyond These Walls”.

His appearance at the Hinterland Music Festival will be followed by two other Iowa performances in Iowa City and Davenport on August 2nd and 3rd. He also plays the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden at 7 p.m. on the 4th of August

1:30 p.m. – TK & The Holy Know-Nothings is a country group led by Taylor Kingman, a songwriter and musician from Portland, Oregon. The group’s album, “The Incredible Heat Machine,” was released last year.

14:30 – Born in Oregon and based in Nashville, Mat Kearney is a pop performer who has released hits such as “Ships in the Night” and “Nothing Left to Lose”. He previously played central Iowa as part of the Des Moines Arts Festival in 2015.

3:45 p.m. – Durand Jones & The Clues is an R&B group from Indiana and has been performing for over a decade. The band’s musical catalog includes “Is It Any Wonder?” and “Don’t you know.” The group’s latest album, “Private Space”, was released last year.

5 p.m. – Indie rock musician Jenny Lewis, who first came to the public eye as a child actor in the 80s, has been performing for about two decades. Notable songs by the artist include “Just One of the Guys” and “Acid Tongue.” Lewis appeared in central Iowa in 2015 during the 80/35 Music Festival.

18:30 Uhr — Trampled by Turtles is a folk/bluegrass band from Minnesota, which released its latest album “Life is Good on the Open Road” in 2018. The band is behind songs like “Wildflowers” and “Wait So Long.” The group also played Lauridsen Amphitheater in Water Works Park last summer.

8 p.m. – Lake Street Dive is an indie rock group that has been performing for almost two decades. Some of the band’s notable releases include “You Go Down Smooth” and “Good Kisser”. The last album of the group, “Obviously”, was released in 2021. Lake Street Dive has played Des Moines before and will appear on the 2016 Hinterland Music Festival line-up.

TBA – Traveling from Texas, Vinyl Ranch is a disco-country act created by Dave Wrangler. The group will play the Campfire Stage on Friday. As of this report, a time for the performance has not yet been confirmed.

Hinterland lineup Sunday, Aug. 7

HEADLINER: Phoebe Bridgers closes the final day of this year’s Hinterland Music Festival at 9 p.m. The indie-pop musician found mainstream fame in 2017 after her performance at South by Southwest and the release of her debut album, “Stranger in the Alps” that year.

Since then, she has released songs like “Motion Sickness” and “Kyoto” and received Grammy nominations. Her latest album, “Punisher” was released in 2020. Bridges came to Des Moines in 2018 for 80/35 Music Festival.

Afternoon – Hayden Pedigo is a guitarist from Amarillo, Texas, who – at the age of 24 – became the subject of the 2021 documentary “Kid Candidate”, which recounted his bid for city council. His latest album, “Letting Go”, was released at the end of last year.

1 pm – The Kernal is a southern rock act led by Tennessee Joe Garner, a singer-songwriter. Kernal’s album “Listen to the Blood” was released earlier this year.

14:00 Uhr — Tré Burt is a folk music singer-songwriter from Sacramento, whose debut album, “Caught It from the Rye” was released in 2020, followed by “You, Yeah, You” last year. His songs include works like “Sweet Misery” and “Under the Devil’s Knee”.

3 p.m. – An indie rock artist with a psychedelic flavor, Liz Cooper has previously released music under the band name Liz Cooper & The Stampede. Her songs include “Mountain Man” and “Modern Chemistry”. Cooper’s latest album is “Hot Sass”.

4:15 p.m. – Under the name Muna, this indie-pop trio has been performing since college. The group has released songs like “Silk Chiffon” and “I Know a Place,” the former featuring fellow Hinterland 2022 performer Phoebe Bridgers.

5:45 pm – Lucy Dacus is an indie singer-songwriter whose catalog of releases includes songs like “Night Shift” and “Souvenir.” Her latest album, “Home Video” was released in 2021.

19:15 – Kurt Vile & The Violators is a folk rock group, led by multi-instrumentalist and founding member of the War on Drugs, Kurt Vile. Vile released songs “Pretty Pimpin” and “Wakin On A Pretty Day”. His latest album, “Watch My Moves” was released earlier this year.

TBA – Tim Heidecker, of “Tim and Eric Awesome Show,” released songs like “Work from Home” and “Sirens of Titan,” which also featured fellow 2022 Hinterland performer Kurt Vile. Heidecker will play on Sunday at the Campfire Stage. A time for the performance has not been posted.
