In Pueblo, there is no shortage of venues to watch live music performances.
Rock, R&B, folk, country, electronic and jazz performances can be heard at small venues throughout Pueblo. Some performances can even be enjoyed for free. Here are four places to watch live performances by local musicians and possibly discover your new favorite artist.
Analogue by Solar Roast Coffee features weekly live performances and a jazz piano cocktail hour
With books, drinks, records and live music in abundance, Solar Roast Coffee’s Analogue has something for everyone. Read also : Local concerts bring unity through music.
In 2020, the owner of the operating Sun Roast Coffee Mike Hartkop opened Analogue Books & amp; Records, a record label and a bookstore adjacent to his Downtown Pueblo coffee shop at 225 N. Main St. The following year, he opened the Analogue Bar, where morning cafes can stop at night to enjoy alcohol, a good book. and capture a live show in the record room next door.
“It’s usually solely to four-piece groups,” said Kristin Skye Hoffmann, event director at Analogue Books & amp; Records. “Most of them are rock, human or maybe even as a new wave or electronic kind of performance. They’re all pretty amazing. It was pretty exciting to see all the local talent in Pueblo coming.”
On Saturday at 10 a.m., Jimi Ray Smith will perform with his acoustic guitar outside Analogue. Shows are free and for all ages with no drink minimum.
Every Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., pianists Gavin Grant and Adam Scott take turns weekly to entertain customers during a cocktail party by playing Jazz standards and improvised covers. Scott will present his next show on July 20 and Grant will present on July 27.
Open Mic Friday Nights at Grind Haus Cafe showcase up-and-coming musicians, comedians, poets and more
At Grind Haus Cafe, 209 S. On the same subject : Music, sun and lots of fun: The WonderStruck Festival kicked off on Saturday. Union Ave., Mad Fresh Productions hosts promising performers from all strips at Open Mic Friday Nights.
With registrations for the open mic starting at 7 p.m., performers receive 10-minute slots from 7: 30-9: 30 p.m. Audiences at the free, weekly event can expect a range of poetry, instant comedy, improvisation and live music.
“We have R&B singers. We have concert bands. We have drums and piano collaborations; some dance music,” said Javier Quinones, owner of Mad Fresh Productions. “It’s a little bit of everything.”
Open micronights have been a tradition at the Grind Haus since 2014, but Mad Fresh Productions began organizing the event after the pandemic.
“It’s a platform for anyone in the community to work on their talent to share their stuff,” said Grind Haus manager Aaron Huntsberry.
In addition to open micronights, Grind Haus is home to several live music performances throughout the year. Until Tuesday, July 19, at 8 p.m., musicians and comedians across Colorado will take the Grind Haus stage during the ninth annual Sareth Fest Music and Comedy Festival hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo alum Sareth Ney.

El Nopal’s Blue Cactus Listening Room offers a ‘speakeasy’ environment where guest can enjoy Mexican food and live shows

Blue Cactus Listening Room opened a little over two months ago as a blues venue, but El Nopal Mexican Restaurant owner George Torres said he plans to bring “all kinds of music”. So far, the auditorium has hosted rock and country acts in addition to blues.
Thursday nights are open micron nights at the Blue Cactus. Registrations open at 6 p.m. and performances begin at 7. Dinner, featuring meals from the entire El Nopal menu, is served from 5: 30-7 p.m.
The Blue Cactus also hosts Friday night “Blues Night” shows featuring professional musicians. Sean Peace, a Colorado native who mixes alternative rock with blues music, will return to the Blue Cactus Listening Room on Friday, July 22nd. Although the venue did not host many local musicians on Friday night, Torres said he hopes that will change as a result. it continues to grow.
A key feature of the Blue Cactus Auditorium is its versatility, Torres said. The room previously served as the “banquet room” at the restaurant and is rentable for birthday parties, small weddings, anniversary parties and more.
“We can also do CD release parties,” he said. “We have a full back line, we have a full sound system, we can do recording. It’s a really versatile room.”
Brues Alehouse gears up for biggest shows of the summer during the first week of August
Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5, are expected to be big nights at Brues Alehouse Brewing Co., 120 Riverwalk Place.
On Aug. 4 at 7 p.m., the brewery will host Tomorrows Bad Seeds, a Los Angeles-based band that mixes reggae, hip hop, punk and soul sounds. Just a Feeling, a local band with Brues Alehouse owner and beer master Tony Garcia on guitar, will be the opening. On August 5 at 7pm, Ballyhoo !, Schwayze and Surfer Girl will perform at Brues Alehouse.
“The trajectory of (Tomorrows Bad Seeds) is like sky high now,” said Ryan Cambo, general manager at Brues Alehouse. “They’re doing really great things in the reggae community and they’re traveling with some pretty big names.”
“Ballyhoo! And Schwayze will also be an absolutely incredible show,” he said. “I’d say those two shows are likely to be the highlight of our summer.”
