As unpredictable as the world is, around 2022, it’s nice to know that there are still some things that can count on me. Music, for example. Even though we do not know the specifics (usually, what will that particular thing never deliver for us and what not?), Music still finds a way. Chaos and insecurity will be damned, bands will continue to form, songs will continue to be written, music will continue to be recorded. It will keep us moving and moving, bringing us good songs (sometimes great) to make up for bad days, and helping us make human connections in a world often defined by division.

All that said, the first six months of 2022 were an incredibly strong time for recorded music by any means. We’ve seen familiar names back with some of their best works; hyped new artists prove that they might be all of the buzz after all; and names we’ve never heard of before the year started. Are we still doing something like normality? Who knows? Here we are again, half in another year, to take stock of the music we have heard so far. What surprised us? What got us excited? What attacked us and would not let go?

We once again asked our employees about their favorite releases (albums or EPs) of the year so far – what has they achieved and / or moved the most in 2022?
