JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) – It never takes much to show a little heart to people in need.

The Rock County Historical Society will host “Artrageous Wednesday” on June 29, with more than 30 locally painted “Thank You” hearts displayed throughout the city going up for auction. Heart ornaments that were hung on Christmas trees during the RCHS Holiday Tree Shows are also up for auction.

This quiet auction is called “Hearts for Ukraine” and all proceeds will be donated to World Central Kitchen – supporting its efforts to serve fresh food to Ukrainian families.

In addition to the proceeds of the auction, organizations also accept donations. An anonymous donor will match the proceeds of the sale.

“During some of the worst months of the pandemic, the hearts that were formed by our community members brought messages of hope and thanks to essential workers,” said Arra Lasse, former president of the Janesville Art League. “Now, the RCHS and the JAL are auctioning off their hearts for further support and care – this time for the people of Ukraine. The highest bidder gets to hold the heart, while also knowing that they are donating for an important cause .

The auction starts at 5 pm. and go until 8 p.m.
