WARM PEOPLE – A local dance troupe Twice like Nice finds many people on their feet as they open their first night of entertainment for Follansbee Public Days, which runs through Sunday.

FOLLANSBEE – Take a hearty meal, add dance music for three nights and attractions for the kids and you have a recipe for the generous help of Follansbee Public Days.

The three-day festival continues this weekend with a parade on the main street at 1 p.m. Saturday and the traditional car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Lyle’s Auto Sales & amp; Waitress.

Many people came out early Friday morning for a bite from one of the many food vendors and explored the variety of crafts and other establishments set up in the parking lot of Follansbee Community House while who are waiting for a double show like Nice and Jersey Beach Boys. .

Saturday’s theme includes Fantasys at 6 p.m. the Skyliners at 8:30 p.m. Sunday’s entertainment includes Fabulous Gemtones, who have been doing favorite things from 1960 to now, at 6 p.m. and the British Legends Tribute, a Canadian organization that gives gifts to British musicians from BeeGees to Elton John.

The ceremony ended at about 10 p.m. Sunday will be a fireworks display.

Weirton Transit Corp. It offers free shuttle buses to the venue from several near the junction of State 2 and Mahan Lane. For some it will be an introduction to the public transport provider, which is providing services to the city this week.

Among the many people who came out on Friday evening were Keith Mansfield of Weirton and his daughter, Willow.

Keith said the variety of food is his favorite on Public Days, with meat being his favorite.

“I love all the local artists,” said Willow, who spoke to local residents who produce a variety of handmade products for sale there.

The food also received a lot of points from Rex Lancaster, who said he was satisfied with the variety offered this year.

“The food is good and the variety is good, too. The things you always see and some new things, too,” he said as he watched his family enjoy the attractions designed for the kids.

Among the many entries sold from large food trucks and stalls are ribs and barbecued, red bacon, bourbon chicken and shrimp smoke; pizza, calzones, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, canoli, ice cream and funnel cakes.

Lancaster added, “We’ll be back in the next two days to check out the music.”

For Layburn, a member of the Community Days committee that organizes music guests, said he has already begun work on next year’s performers.

Tom Ludewig, who leads the group with Nina Meca, said its volunteer members work hard every year and hope everyone enjoys themselves.
