British singer Kate Bush’a music became almost part of the MCU.
Christian Bale, who plays Red God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder, told Total Film that director Taika Waititi had planned a dance scene inspired by Bush’s music, but that was ruled out.
“Taika and I wanted to do a whole dance, and we didn’t want to do it, but we had all the things that Kate Bush used to do,” Bale said. He continues: “I think he realized that he would never be allowed in the last film. I would say the most common thing I saw [while I was preparing for the role] was the Aphex Twin ‘Come to Daddy’ video. But I don’t know if that will be in the last film.”
The song “Running Up That Hill” from his “Hounds of Love” album was revived after appearing on the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things, and peaked at number one on the UK charts.
On his personal blog, Bush thanked runners Matt and Ross Duffer of the show Stranger Things for using the song and giving it a new life among the Z generation.
“I salute the Duffer Brothers for their courage; to take this new series to a much more mature and dark place. I want to thank them so much for bringing the song to the lives of so many people,” said the singer.
