WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach County program is teaching children the importance of having a healthy lifestyle.

Over 1,200 children from Boys & amp; Girls Clubs throughout Palm Beach County participated in the Healthy Hoops program.

This program teaches children and their families how to treat asthma and its related health conditions. The children learned about asthma, how to reduce or eliminate chronic illnesses and received hands-on basketball advice from coaches.

According to 2021 data from the Florida Department of Health, about 10 percent of middle and high school students currently have asthma.

This program, in collaboration with AmeriHealth Caritas and Boys & amp; Girls Clubs throughout Palm Beach County, held June 13 – 16.
