After an extensive review process, the Idaho State University College of Business was re-accredited into its business and accounting programs by the International Association for Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the world’s leading and most recognized accreditation body for company programs.
Through the AACSB, schools are re-evaluated every five years to ensure that programs continue to meet a high standard of excellence and continuous improvement in all of their endeavors. This accreditation is the most widely recognized and rigorous designation a corporate program can achieve. Just over 750 business programs worldwide are accredited by the AACSB, and fewer than 200 are accredited in both accounting and business – the Idaho State University College of Business is among them 192.

During the peer review process, schools are paired with a committee of principals, presidents and professors from other accredited institutions along with a business professional. The College then presents an extensive report which is reviewed by the commission before the visit. In March, the team visited the College over the course of several days conducting interviews with faculty, staff, executive committee members and students to get a better idea of the College’s culture, operations and goals beyond the relationship.
During their time at Idaho State, the AACSB committee was continually impressed with numerous programs within the University and College. The team was eager to learn about the career path internship program and the emphasis placed on career preparation through this program and the college’s professional development program. They were also impressed with the College’s newly established certificate programs in Professional Sales and Financial Literacy, as well as the College’s Freshman Business Plan competition. The team was also stunned by the dramatic increase in scholarships and chair endowments recently established in the College, as well as the teaching staff and student counseling process that business students enjoy.
Idaho State University College of Business was the first institution in the state of Idaho to receive AACSB accreditation in 1978 and is proud to have maintained this prestigious dedication for nearly 45 years.
