When people mention the word Woodstock, the first thing that comes to mind for most is peace, love and good music. A vibe that sounds very relaxing and peaceful. Many people hear stories from their parents or even grandparents about the great music, the art and the overall great moment the festival was. Unfortunately, Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 tells a different story.
Peace, love and good music are what people were hoping for when they went to Woodstock in 1999, but a series of events happened that really destroyed that vibe and some believe this may have been the plan all along. Unlike the festival in 1969, Woodstock ’99 was three full days of carnage, rage, riots and destruction.
The three-part documentary delves into the behind-the-scenes antics and it can be difficult when talking about the horrific sexual assaults that took place during the festival. We watch archival footage and hear untold stories from the violent three-day weekend.
Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 release time
As always, the three-part documentary will be available on Netflix on Wednesday, August 3 at 12pm PT or 3pm ET. On the same subject : Spectacular Spider-Man swings on Netflix.
Despite being released midweek, I’m not afraid that this documentary won’t do well. Woodstock is a name everyone has heard of, but not everyone knows the story of the events of 1999 and will be tuning in to find out more.
Directed by Jamie Crawford, the documentary shows the festival in full view of what has become a dark event in American society. We love to think about the good times Woodstock gave us in 1969, but the events that took place in 1999 were a clear stain on the festival’s name and meaning.
