Amazon Prime Video has secured exclusive streaming rights to the superhero movie Samaritan, starring Sylvester Stallone, which means it’s skipping theaters.
Directed by Julius Avery (Overlord), it takes inspiration from The Protégé of M Night Shyamalan, in that the story subverts the conventions of the genre to create something much more quirky and challenging.
Javon Walton (Euphoria), Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones), Dascha Polanco (Orange is the New Black), and Martin Starr (Spider-Man: No Way Home) play supporting roles.

Samaritan’s distribution change was announced by Fandango’s Erik Davis today (July 12), who also confirmed that HBO Max’s Last Train to New York and House Party have been temporarily shelved.
