It’s the second generation of Show 8 that you can get for $ 75, and we gave it a score of 87 when it came out last year. We like its 8-inch, 1,280 x 800 resolution touch screen, minimalist design and solid sound quality. As it is larger than the Echo Show 5, you get overall strong sound with surprisingly strong bass and volume. This version of the Echo Show 8 differs from the first generation device only in a few ways, the most important being its updated camcorder. The 13-megapixel camera pans and zooms digitally to keep you in the picture when you video chat with apps like Zoom. It’s a relatively small feature (which is why you can calmly go after the first generation of the Echo Show 8 to save some money), but it will be useful for those who constantly use their smart screen as a desktop video chat -unit.
While the Show 8 could be a great kitchen or office unit, the Echo Show 5 is one of the best “smart alarm clocks” you can get right now. We like its compact size, push to snooze feature and its decent sound quality. Despite being the latest generation of Show 5, it does not have the advanced video chat features that Echo Show 8 has, but you will still be able to use it for basic video calling.

The former automatically rotates to follow you when you are making video calls, so you are always in the frame and you can also always see the screen.
