Great Barrington – More than 160 artists from across America and the Berkshires attended the 21st Berkshires Arts Festival.

The three -day event, which ran from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 3, was held at the Ski Butternut ski resort.

According to expert organization Richard Rothbard, more than 5,000 people attended the event.

The event included all types of work from artists including concrete, fiber art, mixed media, leather, and steel.

“The event was a huge success because we had artists coming from Maine, Wisconsin, and Florida,” Rothbard said. “There’s a problem when it comes to gas prices right now, and we thank everyone who traveled long distances to join.”

Rothbard admitted that shopping for artists at the show was good.

“However, I would say that consumer spending is definitely on the more volatile side,” he said.

Rothbard said. “There was a bit of hesitation for spending by some customers. Some people at the festival have a lot of money, but they don’t spend it. But this is not just about spending money, it’s about having a family. “

Rothbard cited ventriloquist performances, puppet shows, musical performances, and food carts, the reasons why the festival has become such a family -friendly event.

“This event is for all generations of families to meet,” he said. “Butternut is one of the few places where people can get together and hang out.”

Rothbard added that the festival will return next year and he is thankful for all the artists and people who attended the festival.

“There’s a lot of love that has developed for these artists and their community,” he said. “Everyone in the audience is knowledgeable and appreciative of their work. This show isn’t just about selling to the crowd, it’s about a high level of appreciation for the arts and crafts. “
