Renowned YouTube streamer Dr Disrespect shares his thoughts on the state of snipers and how they should be one-shot in all video games.

YouTube streamer and Midnight Society co-founder, Dr Disrespect, manages to find himself in game discussions quite often, especially when it comes to how he thinks a game should be balanced. Last month, he came under some harsh criticism for Apex Legend’s audio design, and his latest comments target a much broader topic because he believes snipers should be the one-shot headshot in all video games.

For the unconscious, Dr Disrespect has had a storied career in gaming. He started as a member of Sledgehammer Games which saw him use his talents developing multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare until he decided to pursue a full-time career in streaming. Despite his antics that got him banned from Twitch, Dr Disrepsect has always used his platform and previous experience to voice his opinion on what he believes to be the right balance in video games with his latest opinion that sparks debate across the community.

The latest debate comes from a tweet from Doc himself. In a very short and direct tweet, Doc simply stated that a sniper should either be a hit or a one-shot elimination no matter the video game as long as the shot is a headshot. Dr Disrespect usually plays battle royale or FPS titles like Call of Duty: Warzone on his YouTube stream, and with his tweets garnering over 150,000 likes since he posted them, his words have caught the attention of many players like himself.

Some of the well-known names that took part were professional Call of Duty: Warzone IceManIsaac and professional Call of Duty League Maven. IceManIsaac argues that a sniper’s one-shot potential should only be appreciated if the weapon requires skill while referring to the Kraber from Apex Legends: a weapon that is much slower but matches the lack of speed with power. Maven shares the same sentiment but clarifies that there needs to be adjustments like implementing bullet drop versus one-hit without proper trade-offs.

Along those lines, two other big-name individuals share similar feelings. Call of Duty personality ModernWarzone mentions that there is discussion on both sides of the argument but agrees with IceManIsaac’s point. Renowned Twitch streamer Trainwrecks chimed in on the overall lack of balance by mentioning how inconsistent rifle balance is in some games versus sniper balance. His words serve as a reflection of the famous 725 rifle from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which saw five different nerfs and still dominates in some form.

For the most part, the reaction to this tweet sparked a largely positive discussion, with many agreeing with Doc’s stance, albeit with a proper exchange. With his first Dr Disrespect title on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if he fits into his vocal opinion on balance in video games.
