One of the Assassin’s Creed games in development will have an Asian setting.

This is according to Kotaku, which claims the title is an Assassin’s Creed open-world game codenamed ‘Project Red’.

Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb recently reported that an upcoming Assassin’s Creed game could be set in Japan.

While Kotaku was unable to confirm this, their sources stated that in addition to being highly requested by fans, a Japanese setting has long been discussed internally at Ubisoft. On the same subject : Top 11 Oregon ducks for use in EA Sports NCAA Football that never got a game.

Commenting on the Kotaku report, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg said that Project Red is part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which “will be a platform for future AC games”.

Infinity first launched in July 2021, when Bloomberg stated that it is a massively online game that will evolve over time as a live service.

While previous Assassin’s Creed games were set in specific historical periods, the report said that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will contain multiple settings and could expand to more over time.

Ubisoft later confirmed that Infinity is an “exciting and ambitious” collaboration between Montreal (Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla) and Quebec (Assassin’s Creed Odyssey) studios, although it did not provide further details on the project.

Earlier this month, Schreier said that Infinity “will include multiple games/experiences/biomes/whatever you want to call them.” He claimed to have “heard about the two main ones and none of them are Aztec”.

He also stated that the next Assassin’s Creed game will take place in Baghdad. While not officially announced, it was previously reported that Ubisoft plans to release a smaller-scale, stealth-focused Assassin’s Creed game this year or in 2023.

Codenamed Rift and starring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s character Basim, the title was originally planned as an expansion to the latest entry in the series before being turned into a standalone game last year, Bloomberg reported in February.

On Thursday, Ubisoft pushed back Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and “a minor unannounced premium game” to the next fiscal year, starting in April 2023.

The smaller game might be Rift, with two sources who are familiar with Ubisoft’s plans telling Kotaku that the company is facing challenges with the title’s development.

Ubisoft recently said it plans to “reveal the future of Assassin’s Creed” in September, when it is expected to hold a showcase of various games.
