About 250 million Americans and Canadians are feeling the effects of a powerful winter storm linked to at least 19 deaths before the holiday weekend.
More than 1.5 million people have lost power and thousands of flights have been canceled since Thursday.

In South Dakota, Native Americans who were snowed in burned clothing to keep warm after running out of gasoline, tribal officials said.
Heavy snow was predicted for parts of Pennsylvania and Michigan.
More than eight million people remained under hurricane warnings, the NWS said.
Coastal flooding has been seen in New England, New York and New Jersey, inundating communities and downing power lines.

In the Pacific Northwest, some residents ice skated on icy streets in Seattle and Portland.
Even the usually milder southern Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Georgia received extreme cold warnings.
