Amman – Saturday, September 24, 2022 – The SRTF is pleased to announce contributions of $ 5 million (EUR 4.98 million) from the United States, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to support SRTF-led agriculture and food security projects in northeastern and northwestern areas of Syria.

This is the fifth US contribution since the establishment of the SRTF in 2013, bringing the total amount of US contributions to $ 65 million. Total contributions from donor countries amount to approximately $ 312 million (EUR 315 million).

The senior Syrian-focused USAID official, Deputy Chief Executive Jeanne Pryor, said the important role the Fund plays in alleviating the human suffering of the Syrian people, saying: “We have great confidence in the unique capability of the SRTF. achieve concrete results on the ground. As one of Syria’s largest donors since the start of the crisis, USAID is committed to supporting the SRTF in vital sectors such as agriculture and food security, which are key to reviving local economies and bringing a real sense of stability for Syrian families “.

The General Manager of the SRTF, Eng. Hani Khabbaz, welcomed US contributions in support of the SRTF, stating, “The SRTF is continually grateful for the generous contributions from the US and continued support for stabilization and recovery efforts within Syria. . The new funds will allow the SRTF to expand into two vital sectors, ultimately offering Syrians greater access to significant livelihood opportunities. “

Other SRTF donors include member countries Germany, UAE, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Japan, UK, Kuwait, France, Italy, the Netherlands as well as Turkiye and Jordan who are also members of the SRTF host country.
