The United States has announced that it will resume in-person tourist visa appointments from September.

“We will resume routine in-person tourist visa appointments in September 2022. Previously scheduled placeholders were cancelled. Applicants whose placeholder appointments were canceled can now re-enter the scheduling system to book regular appointments,” the US embassy said in a statement.

The announcement comes as a breather for thousands of families who have waited endlessly to visit relatives and friends residing in the United States.

Although the United States followed the fast study and work visas, those who intended to travel with tourist visas had to wait for the inability to get an appointment at any time this year or even next year.

In June, the Biden administration lifted the requirement for international air travelers to take a COVID-19 test within a day before boarding their flights, easing one of the last remaining government mandates aimed at containing the spread of coronavirus.
