PHOENIX, Ariz. – Today, the United States Attorney’s Office announced its immigration enforcement statistics for April 2022 through June 2022. These cases were prosecuted in partnership with the Tucson and Yuma Sectors of the Customs and Border Protection’s U.S. Border Patrol, and Homeland Security. Research and assistance from other federal, state, and county agencies. In the three-month period ending June 30, 2022, the United States brought criminal charges in Arizona against 1,044 people who illegally entered or re-entered the United States. In an ongoing effort to curb illegal immigration, the United States also filed 288 criminal cases against individuals responsible for smuggling undocumented non-citizens into and within the District of Arizona.

Reducing migrant smuggling and reducing the risk to communities affected by these violations continues to be a priority for the Office and its law enforcement partners. Some of these prosecutions have been directed at leaders and coordinators of non-US citizen smuggling organizations. Other prosecutions are aimed at deterring young adult drivers, often recruited on social media platforms, from engaging in this dangerous activity. Prosecutions against young drivers include three cases brought against juvenile traffickers during this period.

These statistics represent United States Attorney’s Office prosecutions only. The number does not include those arrested by immigration enforcement officials and subject only to administrative proceedings.
