Tommy Fury has said he was banned from traveling to the United States, days after announcing an August 6 fight with Jake Paul in New York.
In a deal announced last Thursday, Paul is set to face Fury in a co-main event at Madison Square Garden alongside Amanda Serrano, who will have a mandatory title defense against Brenda Carabajal.
Paul’s promotion company, MVP (Most Valuable Promotions), said in a statement that Fury was not allowed to board a flight to the United States from London Heathrow Airport on Tuesday.
“Despite numerous assurances from the Tommy Fury team that he was able to come to the United States, and knowing that Tommy was in California last month, we were surprised to learn that he had a problem at the Heathrow Airport on Monday.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, the press conference scheduled for Wednesday at MSG has been postponed. We are working with our partners at SHOWTIME and Madison Square Garden and will share more information as soon as we can.”

Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) was scheduled to face Fury (8-0, 4 KOs) in Tampa, Fla. in December, but Fury pulled out with an injury.
Fury, who is the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, said on Instagram on Tuesday that his travel visa application had been rejected.
“So I just want to come here and set the record straight before someone else tries to. My team and I arrived at Heathrow Airport this morning ready for the conference press, ready to take off.
“As soon as I entered the airport I was pulled aside and a Homeland Security agent who was there told me that my ESTA had been denied and that I had not been able to travel to the United States. United for a reason I apparently know. .
“I can stand here and say I did absolutely nothing wrong and I have no idea why I’m not cleared to travel to the United States.
“Like I say, I’ve been training for one fight this whole time, and that’s all I’ve done. I have no idea why they wouldn’t allow me to travel today, and neither does anyone on my team or my lawyers. .
“Now I have to go to embassies and all that stuff to try to solve it, and I’m training guys.
“I don’t know why this happened today, it’s a huge shock for me and my whole team. Obviously this is a matter that needs to be resolved, these are government issues. You know that it’s a lot more important than the fight right now and I’m just trying to sort it out.”
