The Los Angeles Lakers have been on an upswing lately, but even on their current four-fight win streak, they are 12th in the Western Conference with an 18-21 record. They are not title contenders and may not even be a playoff team, two facts that have weighed heavily on LeBron James this season.
But while winning is still James’ top priority, it’s not his only focus these days. During an interview with ESPN on Friday, he reaffirmed his plans to play until his son Bronny James makes it to the league.
“I need to be on the floor with my boy, I need to be on the floor with Bronny,” LeBron said. “Either in the same outfit or in a duel against him. I don’t mean [watching each other throughout the game] – because he’s the point guard and I am, at that point I’m playing center or whatever the team needs me to do. But I’d like to do the whole thing with Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. That would certainly be perfect.
“I ask him what his aspirations are and he says he wants to play in the NBA. So if he wants to do it, he has to put in the work. I’m already here, so I’m just waiting for him.”
