Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, beating France on penalties in one of the most dramatic games in the sport’s history. After a 3-3 overtime tie, Argentina won 4-2 on penalties.

Messi scored twice in the game, including a goal in the 108th minute that appeared to be the winner for Argentina. However, Kylian Mbappé scored from a penalty kick in the 118th minute to complete the hat trick. Mbappé had previously scored twice in two minutes to equalize in the 81st minute.

In the penalty shootout, Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made a stop in the second round and Aurélien Tchouaméni’s penalty shot went over the bar in the third round, which proved to be the difference in the game.

With this win, Messi won his first World Cup and is likely to become the champion as he hinted that this will be his last World Cup.
