The STRIDE Adaptive Sports organization organized a learn-to-play sled hockey session in Albany for wounded warriors and people with disabilities.

Stride Adaptive Sports offers adaptive sports and recreation classes for people with disabilities, focusing on youth and wounded warriors.

“I do a lot of anger management and this allows me to express myself professionally and in a controlled environment,” said military combat veteran and Capital District Sled Warriors member James Wilson.

Through life-changing sports and recreation programs, the nonprofit organization’s mission is to educate and empower individuals with special needs to maintain healthy, active and fun lifestyles.

As a result of being involved in sports and recreational activities, participants are able to remove boundaries, fulfill dreams, increase their self-esteem and empower themselves.

“It will be great to go to the Paralympics if I work hard enough. That’s my goal,” said Schenectady resident Noorjahan Ahmad. “This is the life I want. I want to start here and move on and get better at it.”
