MASSENA, New York (WWNY) – Saturday afternoon football from the Northern Athletic Conference held 3 contests on the schedule.

Our first stop was Massena, where the Red Raiders hosted Potsdam.

Massena jumped out of the gates quickly as Colden Hardy took a handoff and went 50 yards for the score: 7-0 Massena.

It was Hardy with a big day. Here he took the field and went 52 yards for a touchdown, giving Massena a 14-0 lead.

Gage Charleson entered the game with a 40-yard scamper: 22-0.

In Canton, the No. 8 Football Tournament as Canton hosts Tupper Lake.

James Bailey takes the kick and goes: 62 yards for the kick and the keeper: 6-0 Canton.

Then Brandon O’Shea with a 13 yard scamper: 22-0 Canton at the half.

Canton went on to beat Tupper Lake 38-24.

In Section 3 football from Watertown High, the Cyclones host ESM in a battle of undefeated teams.

In the 1st quarter, the Watertown defense came up big as Tayvon Johnson recorded a sack on ESM quarterback Nick Commisso.

Then the ESM teams are special with a great game as Garrett Miner can’t be removed and he is taken down.

Scoreless in the 2nd when ESM got on the board. Daniel Gilkey took the field on 4th and the ball and scored from 11 yards: 6-0 ESM.

ESM went on to beat Watertown 12-0.

In the National Basketball Tournament from the IHC, the Cavaliers host Lyme.

This game was a defensive battle in the first half as the Lakers’ Evan Froelich came up with 11 saves in the first 40 minutes.

At the other end, IHC netminder Austin Pertl will stop 5 shots in the half, making the game scoreless.

With 13 minutes left in the second half and IHC up 2-1, tempers would rise and the game would be stopped.

Frontier League officials said the game will either be declared a no-contest or it will be canceled and completed at a later date.

In Women’s Basketball, IHC hosts Sandy Creek.

Before the game, the field house at IHC was named after John J. Morgia Sr. Fieldhouse to honor the man who led the effort to renovate the athletic complex at IHC.

Less than 3 minutes in, IHC got on the board when Stella Renzi latched onto a loose ball to put the Lady Cavs up 1-0.

Then it was Keely Cooney with a save at the other end as IHC went on to beat Sandy Creek 9-0.

In men’s college soccer from Hantz Field in Potsdam, Clarkson hosts Bard.

The game remained scoreless in the second half when Colin Wright found the mark, putting Clarkson on top 1-0.

Clarkson beat Bard 2-1.

In men’s hockey from Appleton Arena, St. Lawrence hosts Colorado College.

At the end of the 1st, the Saints were short as Aleksi Peltonen scored a shorthanded goal: 1-0 Saints.

In the 2nd period, the game was tied at 1 when Luc Salem lit the lamp to put the Saints back on top 2-1.

The Saints beat Colorado College 4-1.

In Top 25 football from the Dome, 18th ranked Syracuse hosts No. 15 NC State.

In the 1st quarter, Garrett Shrader hit Orande Gadsen for 12 yards: 7-0 Orange.

In the 3rd quarter: 10-6 Syracuse is Shrader to Gadsen and with 28 yards to make it 17-6 Syracuse.

In the 4th quarter, it was 17-9 Orange when Sean Tucker took it from 25 yards.

Syracuse remained undefeated, defeating NC State 24-9.
