Video games have featured some of the most fearsome enemies in all of fiction over the years. Most villains have a desire to dominate or destroy entire worlds, or sometimes something even simpler, like the destruction of a single hero.

I’m not an action hero who can save the day for a guy like Sephiroth, but I think I could handle more than a few video game villains. I would just need to go into each situation with the right plan to handle the monumental task that would be set for me. So bring it to the villains, I can take you… I think.

10 Mr. Peterson – Hello Neighbor

A surprise hit that immediately won over audiences, Hello Neighbor is definitely a harrowing experience. It’s scary, difficult and has one of the most interesting AI systems in any game. That said, I think I could handle a hardcore game of hide and seek with Mr. Peterson.

Not to brag, but I’m good at hide and seek. I feel like the added weirdness and danger factor would make me even better because there would be real risks to avoid detection. There could be a bunch of other weird, psychological, and state-of-the-horror stuff going on in the background, but I think it would make a proper stealth master.

9 Dark Link – The Legend Of Zelda

Of course, defeating Dark Link, or I think potentially a dark version of myself, might seem like a tall order on the surface. On the same subject : 10 Video Games With Safe Mode. A being that can mirror your every move and seems to know what your next move will be before you make it seem nearly impossible to outrun.

I’d say I’d have Link-like gear to face the being, and if there’s one thing I know about Dark Link, it’s that fighting can be tricky. Depending on the version, I could crouch in a corner and poke it with a sword, or just spam Din’s Fire over and over again, no extra athleticism needed.

8 Flowey – Undertale

Come on, it’s a flower. I would just step on it and crush it a little. On the same subject : Rick and Morty’s strange relationship with video games is explained. Maybe a fight with Flowey wouldn’t be so simple, but I have a very strong determination, and I know I would never survive the afterlife if I were killed by a demonic flower.

I would obviously need a little extra help if things got serious, but we all know how much Flowey loves to hear himself talk. I would take that flower, play a little game of Love Me… Love Me Not with its petals, and turn the stem into a little bracelet as a trophy.

7 Bowser Jr. – Super Mario Bros.

I wouldn’t want to have to fight a creature as young as Bowser Jr., but the question is not if I would fight a villain, but could I defeat a villain? And I could totally beat that punk. He’s a bit of a rogue and might have some special equipment on his side, but I only need to get my hands on him once.

I hope it doesn’t count as animal cruelty to kick a Bowser, as I would channel my inner NFL punter and blast that little Koopa right into the sun with one of the hottest kicks in the world. The only thing I would have to fight is my own guilt for what I did.

6 Handsome Jack – Borderlands 2

The key to defeating someone like Handsome Jack is being even more ruthless than he is. Well, that and a lot of extra luck. My plan to defeat him would be one that would last decades, much like the villains who have well thought out plans. A small Borderlands University, followed by what must be an unpaid Hyperion internship.

I would climb the corporate ladder, doing everything I could to get into Jack’s inner circle, maybe even putting the moves on Angel. One day when your guard is down, boom, that’s it. It might be a little lackluster, but I never said I would beat every villain in spectacular fashion.

5 Andrew Ryan – Bioshock

Okay, this is a bit of a cheat, because I think it would have to let me brainwash myself with a trigger word that makes me follow people’s commands. Once this is good, I would have to become Bioshock’s main antagonist and let the game’s events unfold.

In a way, being able to defeat Andrew Ryan is not impressive, as he would kindly ask me to. But in a different way, I’d be defeating a bunch of Big Daddys on my way to doing that. So basically I’m saying I could beat a lot of Big Daddys and Andrew Ryan.

4 Scott Shelby – Heavy Rain

It may be true that The Origami Killer is just one guy, but he’s still a serious villain. In a one-on-one fight, I think I could beat him. I box and he is getting a little bit so I think it would be nice. But things could be more difficult if I was trapped in your trials.

I don’t have a son he can steal, but I like to think I could go through his worst trials to rescue someone I love. As long as I can catch him with a quick kick to the spikenard, any punishment I would have passed would have been worth it in the end.

3 Goro Akechi – Persona 5

Who doesn’t want to rip Goro Akechi’s smug smile off? I’ll be honest and say I couldn’t remember anything from the other Persona games, but I was paying enough attention to pick up important evidence against Akechi at the very beginning of Persona 5 (thanks Morgana).

It gives me confidence that instead of enacting an elaborate and admittedly impressive plan, I could get to him before he even realized it. He doesn’t seem capable of taking a punch, so it would be a surprise to catch him before he could pull anything out on his own.

2 Edelgard Von Hresvelg – Fire Emblem: Three Houses

You might be scratching your head, wondering how in the world I think I would be able to defeat an empress. No, I don’t think I have the skill to beat her in combat. Edelgard kind of freaks me out, and she likes big axes.

Instead, I would do what Byleth taught me best and simply charm her. That’s right, I’d shower her with gifts she never asked for, have her meet me for tea and cookies, and eventually marry her. At this point, defeating your Game of Thrones style of betrayal becomes simple, and something I think would make me an emperor.

1 Great Grey Wolf Sif – Dark Souls

There’s absolutely no way I’m going to try to defeat the Great Gray Wolf Sif through brutal combat. Sif is arguably the best boy in all of Dark Souls and no harm should come to this poor, majestic creature.

Why use violence when you can promise treats and friendship. I could never replace Sif’s fallen master, I know that, but I could settle for second place with a wolf like that. Best friends for life, this seems like the best way to defeat any villain.
