LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Athletics, Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center and Ticketmaster have implemented SafeTix™ to ensure fans’ mobile tickets remain secure when they attend Kentucky events beginning in 2022-23 winter sports, including all basketball games.
To help combat fraud, Ticketmaster launched SafeTix™, which uses an encrypted barcode that automatically refreshes every 15 seconds so another fan can’t steal the barcode.
The only change for fans will be that ticket screenshots will not be accepted upon entry. Your mobile cards will now display a unique barcode crossed by a blue line. This enhancement protects against ticket screenshots and multiple ticket sales by fraudulent resellers.
Fans should still transfer tickets and add their tickets to their mobile wallet from their My UK Athletics account or the UK Athletics app. For iPhone users, you won’t see the barcode if you’re viewing your ticket in Apple Wallet. The iPhone’s Apple Wallet uses NFC technology that completely eliminates the need for a barcode. The NFC token is implemented when the ticket is added to your Apple Wallet, and you’ll hold your phone up to the scanner to gain entry. NFC technology is not supported on all Android devices. Most Android and non-iPhone smartphones will continue to display the new rotating barcode.
Please note that screenshots of tickets cannot be used.
Kentucky basketball season ticket holders will receive an email with more information when mobile tickets are available for management, beginning the week of October 17 (men’s basketball) and the week of October 24 (women’s basketball).
